Top Coach 62: Cliff Godwin, East Carolina

Be the Best

Back for round two! But this time he’s the head guy. It’s our good friend Cliff Godwin, who has recently taken the reins at his alma mater, East Carolina University. When we last spoke with Cliff, he was the top assistant to Mike Bianco at Ole Miss and he was breaking boards with his head and eating fire. We don’t think he’s settled down any since he left Oxford and he assures us that if it takes eating a little fire to get his guys fired up for a big series, he’s still willing to do it.

As noted in our earlier interview, Cliff has seen a good portion of the country in his travels as an assistant coach and as he recounts in this episode, he’s worked with  and for and played with a Who’s Who of college baseball’s best coaches. You can probably count on an episode 3 with Coach Godwin at some point, because I’ve been promised there’s some barbecue in it for me!
