“Something in the water!” is the way coach Chan Brown explains it when asked about Parkview High School’s boat load of state championships, five of which have come in baseball alone. This Georgia Class 6A school in Lilburn, Georgia, just outside of Atlanta, had back to back state chamionships in 2011 and 2012 and was named by one organization as the top high school team in the nation in 2012.
As Coach Brown explains how the program works, it’s almost as if he’s talking about a D3 or NAIA program. It would be an understatement to call the Parkview baseball program and the structure that surrounds it a well oiled machine. They’ve got a system figured out and it appears they’ve got the right guy in charge. But big school or small, there are many tips that you’ll be able to apply to your program. The bad part for me now is that I’ve got another stop to make on my next road trip through Georgia!
