There have been 18 head coaches in the history of Baylor baseball, but only two in the last 41 seasons. Steve Smith took over 21 years ago for the legendary Mickey Sullivan and has made the Bears a fairly consistent winner through those two decades. Even though football has been the focus in Waco during recent years, Coach Smith keeps the Baylor program moving forward. Listen to how this former high school champion football quarterback keeps the spotlight on baseball in a place where football is king. Also, Coach Smith addresses a topic that is not only important to him, but is a hot button topic for most NCAA D1 baseball coaches — that is, the skimpy 11.7 scholarship limit.
