More than two decades of coaching and currently leading one of the top programs in the country and he’s returning my text messages at 5:00 in the morning. That should tell you a lot of what you need to know about Vanderbilt‘s Tim Corbin. He started off sleeping in a car while on recruiting trips. Now he’s driving the less than a mile to campus in a camouflaged ATV. I’d say he’s riding high.
Of course, it was a given that we’d get Coach Corbin on Top Coach at some point, but even if he wasn’t on our radar already, the sheer number of mentions by other coaches would have demanded that we get him. He is easily one of the most well respected of college baseball coaches and another in the long line of guests who grew up in the Northeast. If you’re a young coach or know a guy just getting started, have him listen to this one and see what can be done to get your foot in the door of the coaching profession. Coach Corbin’s story will truly inspire you.
By popular demand, here is the video of Coach Corbin teaching proper decorum for the National Anthem.
Part 2 with Tim Corbin from July 21, 2014.
