TC117: Tim Scannell, Trinity (TX) University

Did I mention we’ve got a coach from the Northeast? Surprise! Yes, it’s another one of those guys. This time we’ve got a Massachusetts guy. But this one’s found his way to DeepInTheHeartOf.

Tim Scannell only confirms what we’ve had a ton of other guests tell us — they LOVE baseball in the Northeast. As Tim also tells us, they love ice cream in the winter time too. Coach Scannell followed friend Pete Hughes to Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. Coach Hughes, of course, went on to lead the programs at Virginia Tech and now Oklahoma. Coach Scannell stayed put in San Antonio, and it sounds as if he plans to be there a while.

One of the most successful coaches in NCAA Division III, Coach Scannell has amassed over 500 wins wins with one of the highest win percentages among all active D3 coaches. One of the themes that kept creeping into our discussion was the fact that Coach Scannell paid close attention to his mentors along the way. And what a roster of legacy guys to listen to.
