TC104: Pat Mason, Virginia Tech

We’ve got another Northeast guy for you this week (surprise!). Patrick Mason is a Massachusetts native who’s now pulling the coaching strings at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia, a school known for engineering and architecture.

Coach Mason started off coaching high school baseball, basketball, and football in his first year of coaching. He talks about how being put into this position really forced him to learn other aspects of coaching.

Along the way, Coach Mason learned the importance of being able to learn by making mistakes — something he carries forward into the work he does with his assistant coaches. As with many of our previous guests, he is a former catcher, so we pick his brain about how that played into his development as a coach.
