North Carolina may be the densest state when it comes to baseball playing colleges, but the Campbell University baseball program has found a way the last few years to set itself atop the heap in the Tar Heel State. College baseball watchers across the nation couldn’t help but notice the string of successful seasons at Campbell and that meant that Louisiana Tech came calling and plucked head coach Greg Goff out of Buies Creek, leaving the Camels with a vacancy.
Today’s guest demonstrates that when preparation meets fortuitous timing it sometimes leads to tremendous opportunity. Campbell acted quickly in promoting assistant coach Justin Haire to the top spot, hoping to keep the momentum flowing and the recruit pipeline filled. Coach Haire has travelled extensively in his young career, but hopes that he can maintain and build on the the Camels’ great success and keep himself planted in North Carolina for a long time.
One of the real treats of this interview is the peek behind the curtain that Coach Haire gives into the whole process that took place from the time that Coach Goff started getting feelers from Louisiana Tech to the point at which his own announcement as head coach was made.
