TC421: Scott Landers, SUNY Oswego

We often point to what northern colleges are up against — especially with the start dates for the various collegiate divisions so early on the calendar. Well, you can add another layer of difficulty for Scott Landers and his SUNY Oswego baseball team with lake effect snow of the kind that only Lake Ontario can bring. As most coaches note, there’s nothing to be gained from complaining, so they’re learned to deal with it. So well, in fact, that 2022 went down as one of the most successful for this baseball program.

In this episode Coach Landers talks about Oswego, the university, the 2022 season, the impact of the transfer portal – even on a D3 school, learning to win, the SUNYAC conference, weather, recruiting, facilities, staff, baseball as a platform for life, the Cape Cod League and the Bourne Braves, and coaching in the summer.
