
David Kelton readily admits he never thought of coaching as a career option. He was so focused on his career as a player — through the professional ranks with the Cubs and the Braves — that his efforts were solely of what it would take to get to the big leagues. But here he is — the now very successful coach at LaGrange College in Georgia — bringing all the passion to the coaching game that he brought during his playing days.
In this episode Coach Kelton discusses LaGrange College, NCAA D3 baseball in Georgia, growing up in the area, summer baseball, being drafted by and playing in the Chicago Cubs organization, preparing mentally, lessons learned from professional baseball. striving, going back to school, attributes of a successful coach, evaluating players, differences in players over the years, the D3 lifestyle, and his staff.
