
You may not have heard of Tennessee Wesleyan University, but you can bet that come playoff time, everyone in the NAIA knows what is headed their way when Billy Berry and his Bulldog baseball squad shows up in their bracket. You see, it seems to be almost an annual event. Coach Berry is in the midst of year number 17 at TWU where the wins keep piling up, along with conference championships and regular trips to the postseason (including 2 NAIA championships).
In this episode Coach Berry talks about TWU and the town of Athens, hunting and fishing, growing up in Richmond, Virginia, a catcher’s perspective, falling into coaching, his coaching path, mentors, interviewing for two jobs at once when landing the TWU job, the character and leadership mentor program, bringing in outside help to assist in core areas of need, TWU’s recruiting philosophy, his staff, the Canadian pipeline, the TWU team retreat, and culture on the team.
