Well, we could call it an encore — or perhaps a second (or third) act. How about “the next chapter”? Any way you frame it, Russ Wright has a good thing going at Owyhee High School in Idaho. Following a stellar hall of fame high school coach career at Fruitland High School, Coach Wright was coaxed out of his short-lived athletic director job to once again start coaching. He only took his new first year school all the way to the state championship.
In this episode Coach Wright talks about extra curricular activities, his coaching path, Cross Fit, culture, impact, reward, relationships, his move to athletic administration, moving to Owyhee, the value of experience, how kids have changed, sharing experience with kids, challenges, travel ball, his family, and advice to young coaches.
