It was a banner year in 2022 for the Georgia Southern baseball team, culminating in a #16 national seed in the NCAA Division 1 tournament. Just rewards indeed for one of college baseball’s really good guys, Rodney Hennon. Now in season 23, Coach Hennon has quietly built a squad in the powerful Sun Belt Conference that other teams would rather not see in their tournament bracket.
In this episode Coach Hennon discusses the banner year of 2022, Georgia Southern University and the city of Statesboro, Ron Polk, his time at Western Carolina as a player and coach with Jack Leggett and Keith LeClaire, transitioning into coaching at WCU, landing the job at Georgia Southern, recruiting philosophy, finding a fit, walk-on tryouts (Nick Jones), staffing changes through the years, providing opportunity for staff members, and the most difficult aspect of his job.
