TC400: Nick Pou, Sandy Creek HS (GA)

Nick Pou (pronounced Pew) is another example why the Atlanta metro area has some of the finest coaches in the country and another great example as well of why I’m confident in this next generation of young coaches. Coach Pou has been the varsity baseball and softball coach at Sandy Creek High School in Tyrone, Georgia for the last five years.

In this episode Coach Pou discusses coaches in the Atlanta Area, USA Prime 15U baseball, being a teacher, the teaching-coaching symmetry, lessons learned from teaching that he uses in coaching (and vice versa), the difference in being a student today, empathy, the decision that led him to move to Sandy Creek, baseball and softball seasons in Georgia, stability, cultural transition, getting parents to buy in, coaching style, extra-curriculars, mental health, first two hours of the day, and assistant coaches.
