Tony Klarberg is doing his best to grow the game of baseball in Sweden. He first joined us in episode 167 back in 2016 with an international panel assembled at the ABCA convention in Nashville. This time he joins us from Sweden so that we can catch up on what’s going on in that part of the world.
In this episode, Tony talks about growing up in Sweden, playing multiple sports, but catching onto baseball fairly early, his playing days, getting into coaching at an early age, the history of the baseball federation in Sweden, the visiting college coaches from the U.S., his coaching career, his first ABCA convention in Chicago in 2000 (and meeting Jerry Kendall), resources, Sweden Academy, the MLB connection to Swedish baseball, league structures, youth baseball, the EBCA, and the “baseball five”.
