TC383: Rob Fournier, Wabash Valley College

We’ve had our share of coaches who’ve grown up in California and moved east to play or coach — Erik Bakich, Rob Cooper, and Butch Chaffin, to name just a few. Today we add to that list with Rob Fournier who left the Golden State to play baseball in Central Illinois — never to return, it appears, as he’s now headed into year number 26 as the coach at Wabash Valley College in southeastern Illinois.

In this episode, Coach Fournier talks about growing up in California, being a multiple sport athlete in high school (with baseball being his least favorite), moving to Illinois to finish his college baseball career, transitioning into coaching, learning the technical aspects of the game, landing the position at Wabash Valley, the differences between the three divisions in the NJCAA, why junior college baseball is a good fit, two-way recruiting, work/life balance, staff, and staff development.
