Jim Chester has pretty much seen it all when it comes to collegiate coaching, having covered nearly every level from JUCO to D1. These days he’s in the baseball rich state of North Carolina, wielding his fungo at Gardner-Webb University.
In this episode, Coach Chester talks about his coaching journey and the lessons learned, the “forced innovation” that comes with coaching college baseball in the north, the move to Gardner-Webb, living in the locker room, selecting staff, learning about the school and the campus, his relationship with former G-W coach Rusty Stroupe, how he knew Gardner-Webb was the right fit, support from the athletic department and the administration, loyalty, and facilities.
