So you’ve got San Diego. That’s quite a nice pitch when it comes to recruiting. When it comes to practice and games — well, let’s just say there are not many worries about getting something cancelled. What we’re getting at is — if you’ve got to coach baseball, San Diego might top the list.
Our guest on this episode of Top Coach is Eric Newman. He is the head baseball coach at the University of California, San Diego. UCSD is currently finishing up its run in the NCAA D2 ranks and will be making the transition to D1.
In this episode, Coach Newman discusses San Diego (!), the transition to D1, growing up in Chicago, his college career, getting drafted and spending nine years in minor league ball, communication, his coaching path decisions, landing the job at UCSD, facilities, recruiting, and much more!
