It would be easy to argue that there could be one podcast devoted to nothing but California junior college baseball — the history, current events, and the all the people who’ve played or coached along the way. It really is amazing. Today’s guest is another in a long line of coaches who’ve added to the fabric that makes up a remarkable legacy of California JUCO baseball. John Altobelli makes no bones about the fact that he’s THRILLED to coach at Orange Coast College and live in Newport Beach. To paraphrase Coach Altobelli – life is good.
In this episode, Coach Altobelli talks about another remarkable run in 2019, playing college ball, coaching at D1 UC Irvine up to the point the program was shut down, fundraising, continual learning, baseball coaches learning to do most everything themselves, work/life balance, recruiting, creativity in staffing, and his baseball family.
