TC339: Joe Bauth, Erie CC

When one of our guests recommends another potential guest, we tend to listen. Several episodes ago, Niagara County CC head coach Matt Clingersmith suggested strongly that his old coach — and now a rival coach — should be added to the Top Coach guest roster. With an endorsement like that, we jumped all over it. Joe Bauth is the long time head coach at Erie Community College in Buffalo, New York. Not only has he helped guide his team to Grand Junction, Colorado for the NJCAA D1 World Series, he’s also an NJCAA Hall of Famer and on the board for the NJCAA. If we needed any more prompting, that would certainly do it.

In this episode, Coach Bauth talks about the weather (“No, it doesn’t snow all the time in Buffalo.”), playing college ball in a pro sports town, growing up in the country, options for high school players, landing the job at Erie, the state of the program when he landed the job, his vision for the program, recruiting, facilities, staffing, resources, and advice to aspiring coaches.
