Terry Baumgartner had 11 successful seasons at his alma mater, Western Oregon before moving across the border to beautiful Quincy, California to join Feather River College, one of more than 90 junior colleges in the state. Just like his time at Western Oregon, his tenure at Feather River has proven to be a great run of success, having won 11 conference titles in 13 years.
In this episode, Coach Baumgartner talks about coming from a coaching family, playing three sports in high school, American Legion baseball, starting coaching in summer ball, getting his coaching start at Western Oregon at 22 years old, what he learned as a young coach, maintaining a strong staff, creativity in attracting staff, finding the right players for his school and program, keeping grades up with an eye to four year schools, and multi-sport athletes.
