TC308: Mike Martin, Florida State

Mike Martin has been at it for over 40 years now — and to say it’s been a good run would be an understatement. Coach Martin’s passion for the game have never waned and his love for the Florida State program has never been stronger. He has decided, however, to finally hang up the cleats (as the old cliche goes) at the end of the current season. We can’t talk about everything, but we attempt in this episode to get some of his reflections (looking back) and some of his predictions (looking forward).

In this episode, Coach Martin talks about the tradition of Florida State baseball (from his time as a player until now), his long time assistant Chip Baker, what his last year of coaching means to him, his relationship with Florida State boosters and fans, changes in college baseball, his early coaching experience, his relationship with the ABCA, his recommendations for changes in college baseball, what he would like for people to remember about him, relationships, keys to staffing, and his family.

Coach Martin will be speaking at the upcoming I-70 Coaches Clinic in January. Get details here.
