TC304: Joe Ray Halsey, Andrews (TX) HS (retired)

When I spoke at the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association convention a couple of years ago, there was one man that several of my coaching friends said I had to meet. Joe Ray Halsey is a legend among Texas high school coaches — and not only for what he did on the field, but what he continues to do today.

In this episode, Coach Halsey talks about growing up north of Amarillo, playing college baseball, the wind(!), his high school coaching days and state titles, chewing tobacco, forming bonds, the long distances between west Texas opponents, his recognition early on that there was more to the game than winning, and the THSBCA Retired Coaches Association.
