In this week’s episode, we once again head across the pond to talk to one of our favorite guests, Liam Carroll. Since 2015, Liam has been the head coach of the senior team for Great Britain Baseball. Along side those duties, Liam is also a national teams program official for the British Baseball Federation. It has been an exciting time for Liam since we last spoke a couple of years ago and we hope to get you caught up on most everything that is British baseball.
In this episode, Liam talks about the academies, the World Baseball Classic in 2016, the European Baseball Tournament (including promotion and relegation!), not being able to play as many games as he’d like, the makeup of the national team, recruiting international Brits, fundraising to help finance travel and tournaments, how he’s assembled recent teams, the halo effect after WBC qualifying, the upcoming Euro tourney, youth league efforts, working to attract more youth players, the impact of the ABCA on Brit coaches, international meetings at the ABCA, and MLB Baseball (Yankess vs. Red Sox!) in June 2109 AND June 2020!
