It’s been an incredible game of Can You Top This for Sinclair Community College and head coach Steve Dintaman the last few years, capping an amazing 53-win 2016 season with a run to the NJCAA D2 World Series in Enid, Oklahoma.
In this episode we talk about the sports Coach Dintaman played growing up (he considered himself to be a very good soccer player), how he got his start in coaching (he got the itch while playing at Sinclair and started coaching at Dayton), his other work at Sinclair (he’s an enrollment advisor by day), the importance of knowing the high school coach (because he knows the high school player better than most anyone), Sinclair’s position as a community college in the heart of a large city, how he kept an idea journal, the importance of surrounding yourself with good people and delegation, the Three C’s (Classroom, Community, Championships), honesty, the JUCO turnover rate, his recruiting philosophy, managing expectations, and building a strong network.
