TC193: Brian Green, New Mexico

I knew there was something I liked about this guy when I started the conversation. Turns out he was taking his wife on a date after the interview. Now there’s a guy who understands what’s important. That man is Brian Green, head coach of the Aggies of New Mexico State University. In just two short years he’s taken a program from 11 wins his first year to 34 wins in his second year. What’s changed? Coach Green preaches a family culture, often speaking in terms of culture, vision, and mindset. He’s also starting mining the local area of Las Cruces and El Paso (Texas) hard, looking for hard-nosed, talented ballplayers who want to get the Aggies on the national baseball map.

In this episode, Coach Green talks about recruiting and what it takes to be a good recruiter, team culture (Aggie Up!), laying a foundation for a successful program, leadership, the work/life balance, and how to incorporate your family into the program.
